En la sección de hoy traigo un libro recién acabado: La pasión turca. Nunca había leído a Antonio Gala y me ha sorprendido muy gratamente. La historia, desde luego, tiene mucho gancho: una española que abandona su vida en Huesca para mudarse a Estambul, donde reside su enamorado turco. Esta española es Desi, que plasma su aventura en primera persona en cuatro cuadernos (el libro se completa con un epílogo contado por un narrador omnisciente).
Desi comienza a narrar su vida desde su etapa universitaria, donde conoció al que se convertiría en su marido: Ramiro. Tras su matrimonio, se pregunta cuándo llegará la felicidad que debería sentir por ser una mujer casada, y va perdiendo atracción hacia su marido.
En un viaje a Estambul con él y otras parejas, conoce a Yamam, un guía turco con el que se obsesiona. Tienen sexo varias veces y, tras su vuelta a España, sigue en contacto con él y se asocian para montar un negocio de alfombras.
Tras volver varias veces a Estambul, Desi se queda allí de forma definitiva, pero va descubriendo que la pasión por Yamam la está cegando y que la soledad se va apoderando de sí. Te contaría la historia entera, pero no me parece bien destripar el libro, debes leerlo por ti mismo/a.
En resumen, esta es una historia de pasiones, en la que Antonio Gala aborda de una forma muy acertada temas tan difíciles como el sexo, la infidelidad, la poligamia y la sumisión. La narración introspectiva hará que te metas en la piel de Desi hasta encariñarte con el personaje y con su entorno, que es la bellísima Estambul vista a través de los ojos de una inmigrante.

In this section I bring a book that I've just finished: The Turkish Passion. I had never read anything from Antonio Gala, and I'm very impressed. The story is very interesting: a Spanish woman leaves her life in Huesca (Aragon) to move to Istanbul, the city of her Turkish love. This Spanish woman is Desi, who writes her adventure in four notebooks, completed with an epilogue written by another narrator.
Desi starts telling her life at University, where she meets her future husband: Ramiro. After their marriage, she wonders where is the joy that she should feel in her situation, and the appealing to her husband is reduced.
She travels to Istanbul with Ramiro and other couples, and it's there where she meets Yamam, a Turkish guide that becomes an obsession to her. During her stay, they have sex several times and she keeps in touch with him after going back to Spain. She even starts to run a businness of carpets in association with him.
After returning some times to Istanbul, Desi settles down there, but little by little she discovers that her passion is controlling her and that loliness is taking over her. I'd tell you the whole story, but it's not nice to spoil the whole book, so you should read it yourself.
To sum up, this is a story of passions, in which Antonio Gala talks about difficult topics such as sex, infidelity, poligamy and submission. The introspective narration will make you understand Desi and love her and her context, which is the nice Istanbul seen through the eyes of an immigrant.
